Last week Katie Rubin and I were working with a high energy CEO as he was developing a keynote speech. He was ready to come out punching.

We started the session, not with the speech, but with our exercises. By the time we started to work on the presentation, he had changed the topic and the new speech started with a personal story that had a key message for his audience. A very touching personal story.

What a dramatic difference. And what a different response his new presence will illicit from the audience. His previous speech would have been witty and entertaining. His new speech has the power to change how we do business.

Last week while conversing with an associate, I became aware that I was patiently waiting for the other person to stop talking so I could say what I wanted to say. For sure, my Alpha Presence^sm  training kept me from interrupting, but I already knew what I was going to say, it was in my "conversation queue."

I really wasn't listening to the other person. I knew what he had to say, knew where they were going, and was just waiting for him to stop talking.

My conversation partner was playing a "tape" that he had played before and I, in return, was waiting to play my "tape."

So, I shifted gears. I commented on what I really wanted -- a better and more personal conversation about the issue we were resolving.

And I got it.

We had over 80 people sign up for the "Romance Your Money" teleseminar. Along with our two experts, Dr. Richard Peterson and Jason McClain, we looked at why so many of us have developed a "conflict of conscience" around money and wealth.

96% of those who took the pre-seminar survey stated that they want to make more money and still feel good about themselves.

The one gem that was reported was the "certificates of appreciation." Certificates of appreciation are those dollars in your billfold. Every time someone gives you a certificate, they value what you are giving them more than the dollar bill or check they are giving you.
